Album and Mixtape Review Catchup: 9/2012-10/2012

Since I have not updated the site the last few months all that much in order to catch up to current music I will review all the albums and mixtapes of importance in my opinion from September through October in order of release date. Below will be the ratings for the albums, a brief writing on each album and the top five tracks from the album along with a link to download individual tracks from each album. To download individual tracks from each album click on the top five tracks from the album and to purchase the album click on the album title. The top tracks from each album are listed in order of how I ranked the best songs from the project.

Matchbox Twenty: North

3 stars

A strong three out of 5 stars for the first album in ten years from the Pop rock group Matchbox Twenty. The album has more of a pop sound from Rob Thomas than you may be used to from their past albums, but on songs like She’s So Mean and Parade they pull it off perfectly.

My Top 5 TracksShe’s So Mean, Parade, I Believe In Everything, I Will, OverJoyed

Two Door Cinema Club: Beacon

4 stars

A strong four stars out of five for the second album from this Irish indie rock trio. The album was released on August 31st and is an extremely consistent release from the band. Catchy harmonies, smooth melodies and harmonies set to kinetic beats are plentiful on Beacon which is a great release from this indie rock band.

My Top 5 TracksNext Year, Wake Up, Sun, Sleep Alone, The World Is Watching

Pet Shop Boys: Elysium

3 stars

The 11th studio album from English popsynth group the Pet Shop Boys gets three stars out of five on this light-hearted pop album. The album was released on September 5th and is yet another solid album from the duo.

My Top 5 TracksLeaving, Requiem In Denim and Leopardskin, Hold On, Invisible, Winner

Lupe Fiasco: Food and Liquor II-The Great American Rap Album Part 1 Album Review

To purchase the latest album from rapper Lupe Fiasco click on the image above.

Food and Liquor II-The Great American Rap Album Part 1 is the fourth studio album from rapper Lupe Fiasco and was released on September 25th. The album is the follow-up to the commercially successful album Lasers which received criticism for being to commercial and radio aimed to the rappers dismay due to fights with Atlantic records. The album is a return to the more conscious Lupe Fiasco rap that his long-time fans are used to and is a very good album from the rapper. The album debuted at number five on the charts and was the number one album on the rap/R&B charts.

The fourth studio album from Lupe Fiasco comes in at 17 tracks long and is an album which was made the way Lupe wanted to make it with no label compromise involved. Lupe shines most on this album when he is rapping with a strong message with his inspiration about the issue showed through the intensity with which he raps.

Food and liquor 2 the great american rap album pt 1 is a very good album from Lupe Fiasco which gets four stars.

My Top 5 Tracks: Around My Way, ITAL, Lambhorgini Angels, Strange Fruition, Battle Scars

Chris Rene who finished third on reality show the X-Factor this past year finds trouble in the video for his second single in the form of a girl who he can’t get out of his head.

I showed you the song Battle Scars from singer Guy Sebastian last week, so now here’s the music video for the song. The song went to number one on the charts in Australia and is suprisingly the first number one for rapper Lupe Fiasco.

Guy Sebastian: Battle Scars Ft. Lupe Fiasco

Battle Scars is the newest single from singer Guy Sebastian and is a very good song which I found thanks to a Lupe Fiasco feature.
