DJ Khaled: Kiss The Ring Album Review

Kiss The Ring is the sixth studio album from DJ Khaled and mainly follows the same formula for songs as his past albums. The new album from the DJ has a few great songs, but as a whole is incredibly inconsistent with its tracks missing more often than they connect. The sixth album from DJ Khaled is an average rap album which is extremely similar to his past albums.

While the idea of getting superstar artists together for an album sounds like it would make an extremely memorable album the results are not as promising. There are a few tracks which are hit songs like Hip Hop, Take It To The Head, They Ready and I Wish You Would which all show the potential that a DJ Khaled track can have and should all get plenty of radio play. The album as a whole though is extremely inconsistent with a few tracks which were complete misses. The album comes nowhere close to living up to the potential of its features and doesn’t really deliver anything too memorable lyrically or substance wise other than on Hip Hop which is the highlight of the album and is an epic hip hop track. Features on this album include Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Nas, J. Cole, Big Sean, Big K.R.I.T. an Wale among many others. Kiss The Ring comes in at 15 tracks long and 59.5 minutes although the album could have been easily cut down to just seven tracks which were all at least above average. Jamaican rapper Mavado is featured on two tracks which are both complete misses for me since you can’t understand a word he says in the song and are two of the eight songs from the album which I thought were below average or worse. Kiss The Ring has seven tracks which I thought were at least above average and would have made up a very good seven to ten song album with multiple radio hits, but the other eight songs from the album are average at best with three or four songs which were absolutely horrible. Kiss The Ring is just an average album from DJ Khaled which has four songs which are hits and holds up the project against it’s inconsistency with many below average tracks.

Kiss The Ring is an inconsistent album from DJ Khaled, but has a few tracks which stand out from the rest and are hit records. The newest album from DJ Khaled is no different from his past albums although a little more inconsistent and gets 2 1/2 stars.

My Top 5 Tracks: Hip Hop, Take It To The Head, They Ready, I Wish You Would, B Boyz
