Drake sounds hungry again on 5 AM In Toronto as he delivers plenty of subliminal disses which you can read more about by clicking here for my lyric explanations for the song. A simple music video, but that’s all you need from Drizzy for this free track.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis had a breakthrough year this past year, and the hype continues with the music video for Can’t Hold Us.

Muse: The 2nd Law Tour Concert Reaction

Muse performed at the Izod Center as part of their 2nd Law Tour on Friday, April 19th and I was in attendance.

On Friday night I saw Muse perform live for the first time at the Izod Center, and the band put on a great show which utilized lasers and a pyramid of LED screens. Muse put on an excellent show and lived up to the high expectations I had for the band in concert and the high expectations set by what I had heard from others about the band’s live performances.

The concert opened with a late replacement as the opening act in, the band Dead Sara. The opening act is an up and coming hard metal band which has received rave reviews, but hard metal is not my type of music so I wasn’t a fan of the opening performance for the concert. Muse is well known for their laser shows and in concert the vocals and instrumentation sound excellent and live up to the studio quality of the songs. The band used an enormous pyramid of LED Screens across the stage to display video to go with each song, as well as having the screens descend and “consume” the band during the show. Throughout the concert laser lights were used which looked awesome to go with Muse playing a nice mixture of both older and new material throughout the concert. In tribute to the horrific tragedy at the Boston Marathon lead singer Matthew Bellamy performed the Star Spangled Banner and in tribute to Hurricane Sandy and New Jersey he dedicated the song Starlight. The band played many of my favourite hits from the group including songs: Supremacy, Supermassive Black Hole, Knights Of Cydonia, Madness, Time Is Running Out, Stockholm Syndrome, Uprising, Starlight and to close out the show Survival. As the concert approached Muse’s previous album The 2nd Law had continued to grow on me, although I was not a fan of the dubstep elements found on the album. Muse puts on an outstanding live show with an excellent use of lighting effects, great vocals and excellent instrumentation in what is an overall great show from the alternative rock band. If you haven’t seen Muse in person yet and are a fan of the band, I would definitely recommend seeing them as they put on a really good show.

Paramore: Paramore

4 stars

The latest album from Paramore frays away from a specific sound and pursues many different genres in what is an excellent album from the alternative rock band. On this album you can find throwbacks, pop songs, a country song and even a ukulele interlude in an album which switches up its’s sound often, all while highlighting the vocals of lead singer Hayley Williams.

My Top 5 TracksNow, Still Into You, Ain’t It Fun, Hate To See Your Heart Break, Grow Up

Fall Out Boy: Save Rock and Roll

4 stars

The fifth album from alternative rock band Fall Out Boy features guest appearances from The Foxes, Big Sean, Courtney Love and Elton John while coming in at 11 tracks and just over 41 minutes. The band is still happy to experiment, mix things up and try new sounds five albums in and have released an excellent ambitious album this time around.

Bon Jovi: What About Now Album Review

To purchase the album, What About Now from Bon Jovi click on the image above.

What About Now is the 12th studio album to come from rock band Bon Jovi. The album was released on March 12th and debuted at number one on the album charts. The album has 16 tracks, coming in at an hour and five minutes in length on what is an average album from Bon Jovi.

The latest album from Bon Jovi continues the band’s message-aimed music, fighting for the minorities in their songs which will be added to a collection of hits to be played during the groups summer tour. While this album does have some stand-out tracks which are reminiscent of classic Bon Jovi, at times this album also lacks in consistency with many songs that hit, but also many that miss. Songs like Because We Can and Beautiful World are examples of songs that connect while some songs such as Amen, That’s What The Water Made Me and Not Running Anymore are huge misses. Bon Jovi’s newest album is inconsistent, but is still an above average album from the group which continues to still make good music as Bon Jovi enters his 50′s now. Fans of the group should enjoy this album, which has a few anthems which you are used to hearing from the band, with the opening track, Because You Can being an upbeat song filled with optimism and infectious lyrics.

Bon Jovi returns on their latest album with more of the same and what you have come to expect from the rock band. What About Now receives a light three stars.

My Top 5 Tracks: Because We Can, Beautiful World, I’m With You, Every Road Leads Home To You, Army Of One
